Dear Rick
When you and Michelle started seeing each other, it didn’t take long for you to become a member of our family. You were there to share in some of my moments of need.
• When I was impatient and decided to take a wooden cabinet down, but it had other plans and fell on me, you were the first one there.
• Then when I tried to move your motorbike and it fell, you didn’t get angry with me, but simply came outside and showed me how it should be picked up without damaging it.
• Being my ‘buddy’ in scuba diving. I was a novice and ended up with the bends. You never left my side, in fact, you signed my life away so the doctors could do what was needed to get me into the hyperbaric chamber. I’m not sure if you stayed for me, or to ask loads of questions of the navy personal manning the chamber that night 9 December 2000.
• I’m sorry for spoiling the surprise that you had for Michelle, taking her up in a hot air balloon to ask for her hand in marriage.
• Even though I have not been back to NZ since Dad died in 2015, just the thought of you not being around leaves a hole in my heart.
• I wish you go to your eternal slumber knowing that no matter what has happened over the past 30 years, you are always my brother.
Rest in peace
