From a babe in arms ‘till you and Bram retired back to NZ we had our ups and downs but you were always my Aunty Betty. A fierce matriarchal presence, you smacked my arse more than once, fed me smoked salmon sandwiches and persuaded me to come home when I ran away on bicycle at 15!
After so many years without much contact I’d forgotten how much I missed you and yet there you were again when I most needed you.

Dearest Betty. I think back on all the memories of the brief parts of my life with you. In London, at St. Stephens. At my parents home in the US. Such lovely, warm, happy times. But, somehow knowing you’re no longer physically here, I miss you more, now. With much love, always.
