Hi Pops,
The man, the legend.

I’ll always remember when we first met — the very first thing I did was straddle you, and you just took it like a king. Then that first barbecue at your house… classic Pops. You tried to get the foreigner (me) drunk, but in the end, I was the one putting you to bed.

Your stories will always be remembered. And many moons will keep hearing them, because I’ll keep passing them on — especially those days from hagans, they are used all the time in my training. Your heart was massive, Pops. You showed it every time people came round: table after table full of food, more than anyone could handle. That’s who you were — you gave more of yourself than anyone else around.

When I think about true hospitality, I reckon there’s no better face I could picture at my Restuarant door than yours. You embodied it.

Thanks for everything, Pops. Take care, love you.

Alan

Memories, of Bevin and I - playing backyard cricket with his father Trevor; catching tadpoles in the clay pools of the Glenburn Brickworks in St Georges Road; playing tennis down at the courts near the Avondale Racecourse; playing cowboys and Indians and having plum fights in the Parr family orchard; flying our kites as high as possible; racing our homemade trolleys down Puketea Street; going to the movies at the Kosy theatre; and swimming between the many boats then moored in Blockhouse Bay. Bevin will be missed.

One of the most amazing people I’ve met.
A true legend and a gentle giant.
A lover of red wine music and laughter.
Quick with his guns he was a showman.
Carrying a load of love and respect from others Log will missed and leave a hole no one can fill.
A giant totara has fallen in the forest.
All our love Ross and Odette
