A beautiful fitting tribute , both spoken and sung, to a remarkable human being , Manoochehr Ala'i, from his loving family. Embracing not only his devout beliefs , but his insatiable appetite for life, learning and his devotion to his wife, children and grandchildren...and a warmth which he shared with all those whom he had met during his journey through this life.
How wonderful to have have heard his voice and to know he had the "last laugh" , bringing a smile to the many at his funeral service.
Basketball, Bowls, Backgammon and that now infamous Brut 33 have taken on a whole new meaning and are now, together with his many qualities, firmly etched in the memories of all who knew/know him in this life and beyond.
A final word to you , dear Paree and Jordi, so far from loved ones at this most emotional of times.
Rotterdam isn't so far if you are in need of a hug .
Thank you for the memories shared with you and your dear father, Manoochehr at "The Ritz".
Signing off !!

Every interaction with Manoo was an absolute delight and everyone will have their own memories to cherish. Thinking of the whole family and sending all our love.

Sione Tu'itahi

I first heard of Manoo through his cousin, Suhayl ‘Alá’í, who served as a Counsellor for the Bahá’í Faith in Samoa, Tonga, and other Pacific Island nations during the 1970s and 1980s. I had the privilege of meeting Manu in person after our family moved to New Zealand in 1994.

From the moment I met him, I was deeply struck by his humility, kindness, and wisdom. To me, Manoo embodied the spirit of the early Bahá’ís—those who sacrificed everything with unwavering dedication and selfless love in service to humanity and the Bahá’í Faith. He leaves behind a remarkable legacy of devoted service, one that will continue to inspire and guide generations to come.

Our love and prayers are with Suzanne, Kevin, and the entire family, especially Manu's many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

With love and prayers,

Sione & Tupou Tu’itahi,
children and grandchildren.

We were so grateful to have the opportunity to join, albeit remotely, such a beautiful and befitting tribute to dear Uncle Manoo. Our hearts brimmed with intense love for him and for you all. Zohreh and I are so happy that we moved to the Southern Hemisphere so that we could get to know Uncle Manoo and all of you in person, and we cherish the memories. Uncle Manoo will be in our prayers each day.

My most sincere condolences to his family.
My father, Hamid Alai, and Manoo were childhood friends. I remember when Manoo visited Tehran in the early 70's when he was enroute to Haifa for pilgrimage. There was a picture of the two of them in the slideshow. He was always smiling.
A few years later, Manoo gifted us a beautiful sheepskin which his mother brought back for us after she was visiting Manoo in NZ. It must have taken so much space in her suitcase. We proudly displayed it on our living room couch.
I am so grateful that I was able to watch his incredible memorial live.
Thank you to his family. Till we all meet again.

The funeral service was beautiful and so befitting of Manoo’s life. Thank you.

Manoo played a pivotal role in our family’s story by bringing my father, Hooshang, from Iran and helping him build a new life. My father always regarded Manoo as his brother and spoke of him with immense love, respect, and gratitude. The two remained the closest of friends throughout their lives. Dad passed away four years ago, but I know how deeply he would have felt this loss. Manoo’s generosity and influence will live on through the family he helped nurture. He will never be forgotten. We are forever grateful for everything Manoo did for our father and our family, and we will always consider the Ala’i family to be our family. From the Mosaed family.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of dear Manoo. His wisdom, kindness and steadfast faith touched so many souls.
He will be missed, we take comfort in knowing that his soul has returned to the Abha kingdom and is now reunited with his beloved wife, Margaret.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May god surround you with His love and grant his soul eternal joy and nearness to him. 🤍

Our sincere & deepest sympathy to the beloved Ala'i family for the loss of one of the pillars of this devoted and blessed family from the cradle of the Faith taking the Cause of Baha'u'llah to the Pacific Ocean. You are forever remembered Manoo Ala'i. Safe journey home. Allah'u'abha!

We first met Manoo when he and Margaret moved in across the road and became our neighbours for many years. He was a big part of our community and a truly great bloke.

Manoo was generous, always friendly and caring, and an encyclopaedia of knowledge on just about anything we needed advice or information on. He was an absolute pleasure to talk with, and he will be greatly missed by our family and so many others in our community.

Rest in peace, Manoo. We'll miss you.

Manoo-joon was a special man. He was a staunch Baháʼí who served the Cause of Bahá’u’lláh in innumerable ways. He never held back from expressing his firm opinion on world events, however outrageous some of them may have sounded to the family! He was a sensitive man, generous, supportive, loving and the best of uncles. My heart and thoughts right now are with Manooshan and my New Zealand cousins.
